Beginning in 2001, GM knowingly allowed a defective ignition switch to be installed in production vehicles. Individuals at GM knew this defective switch would turn off the vehicle - without any warning to the driver. Individuals at GM knew this condition would cause a loss of power brakes, power steering and all safety equipment. Individuals at GM knew of the problem, chose to do nothing and concealed the defect from the public and government safety regulators. Individuals at GM knew of the defect's potential for harm. GM and individuals within GM must be held criminally answerable for conspiracy to cover up this deadly condition. GM and individuals within GM must be held criminally answerable for the resulting 42 deaths. The USDOJ must begin prosecution of GM and individuals within GM.
