Have English be recognized as the United States of America's national language and promote the learning of said language

Created by J.N. on April 27, 2013

The United States used to be a British colony and home to a plethora of immigrants many of which did not speak English, and over time through education and society, their descendants adopted the language more and more. This petition seeks to identify English as our national language due to how we currently operate with the language and due to our history with the language. This petition also pursues this in hopes to prevent any possible language barriers citizens may incur, such as how other countries like Canada where the language is split between English and French, as we continuously gain more and more foreign citizens as our country goes further into the future. Once recognized, this should lead to further promotion of new populace to learn English and better function in our society.
