Initially, the United States was built on the premise of equality and freedom for a privileged few. Over time, different groups have fought and won their freedom and equality. Now, it is the LGBTQ community's turn. We can stop this senseless discrimination that echoes conditions that African Americans suffered at the hands of the inattentive government before the Civil Rights Movement.
This petition calls for the Equality Act of 2015 to be passed. Passing this will expand the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to ban discrimination on the basis of sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity.
By signing, the White House will hear our united voices' call for change.
