People from other countries knowing English before moving to the U.S. is helpful for both immigrants and citizens. Most of the American citizens still use English as their official language. It is reasonable to expect foreigners who move to the U.S. to know English before living here. Everyone in the states will communicate more easily if we all know the same language.
