Have the FAA use its regulatory authority to revoke the Boeing 787 Dreamliner's certification for commercial use, and ground all planes until it can redesign a safe aircraft.
Having to read a new headline every day about smoke in the cabin, overheated batteries is not beneficial for the traveling public or its confidence in the airline industry. The news reports these events cavalierly, and fortunately nothing has happened yet.
But we should not have to wait for something tragic to happen before action is taken. This is completely unacceptable, and has happened before. Many people died aboard the McDonnell Douglas DC-10 because of "minor engineering flaws" in its cargo door that were "tweaked" after the plane went into commercial use.
