Have the FDA lift the ban on gay men donating blood

Created by T.P. on September 12, 2013

Every time a person donates blood they can save the lives of up to three people and they can do this every 8 weeks. Unfortunately, any man who has had sex with a man after 1977 is banned from donating blood for LIFE. This antiquated and discriminatory policy needs to end immediately. Members of congress, including Senator Elizabeth Warren have signed multiple letters to the department of Health and Human Services demanding a reason why this policy persists. There is almost always a shortage of blood and its asinine to ban at least 10% of the populace because of their sexual orientation.
