I have a 3yr old with downs syndrome, and was shocked to find that there is no research what so ever in finding out why it happens, how it happens, or trying to resolve a cure ofr it! I know it is a 'liveable' desease, but so is diabetes, and there is enormous amounts of funding for diabetes. There are different health risks, some severe, and different degrees of delays. I am lucky, my son is very mild, but as a pediatric nurse, so many severe cases of downs. We can clone human embryos, but cannot remove the extra chromosome that causes this stereotypic disease?
