have the income of elected representatives pegged to the median income of their constituency, capped at $100k/yr.

Created by C.S. on April 09, 2014

Politicians take many forms, but the most prominent ones are the elected officials chosen democratically by the people to represent them in a municipal, state, or federal setting. Politicians come from many different origins, but once elected, they are expected to serve their constituency. Unfortunate, then, that Americans are less trustful of their elected representatives than ever (tinyurl.com/bt3vylu). Likely a factor is the staggering personal wealth that many representatives accumulate in their tenure.

The US Census stated that median income "provides a more accurate representation" of wealth in America (tinyurl.com/yljolqk), and as such, we petition that elected representatives have their income pegged to the median income of their constituency, capped at $100,000.
