TicketMaster engages in the practice of allowing "resale" of their own tickets. This encourages scalpers to purchase tickets to popular events such as concerts and Broadway shows and sell them back to the public at often more than 100% markup over already exorbitant prices, in addition to their service fees.
Fans are hurt by being charged a mark-up with no value-add because scalpers game the system, making TicketMaster itself the scalper. Entities such as StubHub also purchase tickets at face value that would have been purchased by fans and sell them.
This practice must be made illegal. We petition the Obama Administration to investigate abuses by Ticketmaster and other ticket scalpers and submit a bill for Congress to banning scalping and allow fans to buy tickets at face value.
