The Florida Attorney General is now seeking a 60-year sentence for Marissa Alexander for her retrial. An abused spoused, she fired a warning shot to keep her husband from physically abusing her. Now, she may face a 60 year sentence. Florida's application of "Stand Your Ground" is inherently unfair and discriminatory. The Justice Department should step in and review all cases in Florida to determine if a pattern of discriminatory application of the law is occurring.
