Whereas, members of Congress are not true employees of the Federal government as evidenced by the fact that employees are not able to give (i.e. vote) raises and benefits for themselves, members of Congress: (1) shall be entitled only to the same benefits and privileges as individual, non-married, self-employed, non-incorporated citizens – including but not limited to health care, insurance, and pensions; (2) shall not be able to vote pay raises or other compensation enhancements for themselves. Salaries shall be six times the median U.S. income so Congress will get more income only when citizens do. Changes to salary and/or benefits must be done in the same manner as Constitutional amendments.
