Have Obama publicly speak out against the anti-gay marriage amendments in Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, and Washington.

Created by J.C. on September 28, 2012

In November, four states will place LGBT civil rights in contest. We urgently desire Obama, the first sitting President to defend the civil right to marry, to stand with us. Following the May 2012 popular vote to limit marriage equality in North Carolina, President Obama's campaign said he was "disappointed with North Carolina's constitutional amendment banning gay marriage." This statement of “regret" through his campaign is applauded, but insufficient—there is more that he can do. Now that the Democratic platform officially endorses gay marriage, we need President Obama (a Democrat) to personally and publicly speak out against the proposed anti-gay marriage constitutional amendments PRIOR to the November election.
