The design of this petition process seems to thwart democracy. A person comes to the site and wants to see the petitions that matter to them. In order to see past the first eight, they need to scroll down and click repeatedly to get eight more, then eight more, etc.
This process is incredibly cumbersome for somebody coming to the site for the first time, trying to see the details of petitions they may be interested in, then having to start all over again.
This design discourages people from participating.
