Despite 90% approval for universal background checks for gun purchases, our government representatives simply do not have the backbone to pass this essential requirement. Hence firearms remain freely available to criminals and the seriously mentally ill. This petition would allow for popular vote to determine if there should be a requirement for background checks rather than leave this pressing issue in the hands of our representatives who quite simply are not willing to represent the American people on this issue.
