On behalf of the Portland Trail Blazers fans and community, I humbly request that number Seven be retired by the Blazers in honor of Brandon Roy for his level of play while on the court and what he has meant to the entire Blazer community. He and LaMarcus Aldridge built the core that helped to bring the Blazers out of the shadow of the "Jail Blazer" stigma and two seasons of very sub-par basketball, to make the team relevant again.
For us, Brandon Roy made it fun to be a basketball fan again and instilled us with pride in our team that we had not had in quite some time.
Brandon Roy was a great player and is a great person who means a great deal to this community.
