have the President and Congress donate their pay to charity, equal to the number of DoD civilian employee furlough days.

Created by E.B. on May 28, 2013

We propose that the President and members of Congress follow the example of Secretary Hagel and return a portion of their pay equal to the number of DoD Civilian furlough days. Furthermore, instead of returning their pay to the Treasury, we propose that they donate it to a Military/Veteran's Charity of their choice. While this will not ease the pain the Civilians and their families will feel due to the loss of pay, as well as the extra burden it will place on the Military itself, it will demonstrate a show of support and remorse for a situation caused directly by the federal government's inability to work together.
