The Funk Parade is a daylong celebration of Washington DC's music, arts and culture, taking place in the U Street neighborhood on Saturday, May 7.
President Obama will already be in the neighborhood speaking at Howard University's commencement, so it would be easy to drop by and enjoy the festivities. They should stop by, have a Ben's chili half smoke and dance with their neighbors!
This year's event features 150 hours of music - from go-go and funk to jazz and hip-hop - a salute to 1970s rollerskating and more. A participatory parade at 4 PM invites the whole community to be a part of the fun.
