Have President Obama honor history and come to Gettysburg to speak at the 150th Anniversary of the Gettysburg Address

November 19, 2013 is the 150th Anniversary of Lincoln's Gettysburg Address. Historian James McPherson describes the battle of Gettysburg as "arguably the most important three days in American history." Months ago, President Obama was invited by Pennsylvania's bipartisan Senatorial delegation to speak at the commemoration of Lincoln's historic speech, providing President Obama the opportunity to offer words of healing and reconciliation to our divided nation reminiscent of those spoken 150 years ago by the Great Emancipator. Recently, the President declined this invitation, electing to have the Secretary of the Interior represent his administration. We the undersigned strongly urge the President to change his mind, to seize the historical moment, and to speak at Gettysburg on Nov. 19.
