President Obama signed the NDAA or National Defense Authorization Act into law. A provision of this law allows for the indefinite detention of American citizens, on American soil, without due process of law, by the U.S. military, if those Americans are suspected of terrorist activities. This act undermines the authority of the U.S. Constitution by directly contradicting the 4th amendment by bypassing the need for a judge to issue a warrant for arrest. It also undermines the 6th amendment to the Constitution by denying said individuals with a right to a speedy trial. A President swears (or affirms) to uphold and defend the Constitution as a primary duty of holding the office of President. To act in a way that undermines The Constitution while swearing to uphold it is an act of treason.
