Every american citizen expects its government to provide safe drinking water since the act after its name was passed in 1974. In Flint Michigan, not only was this act violated but it was also not addressed in any kind of timely manner.
Furthermore, in this case, the decision to make the change was not even decided by locally elected officials but by an appointed emergency manager who was not a resident of the city but appointed by the Governor.
It is the wish and goal of this petition to have the President, after witnessing first hand, to use the bully pulpit to highlight not only the tragedy, but also the usurping of local government control that led to this catastrophe in the first place.
