Have the president quit lying when he says the majority of American would like to see an "Assault Weapons"

The president has said. "A majority of Americans support banning the sale of military-style assault weapons". Which according to a recent Gallup poll is untrue. "The slight majority, 51%, remain opposed to making it illegal to manufacture, sell, or possess semi-automatic guns known as assault rifles." While only 44% would like to see a ban. Please stop the president from misleading Americans to further this agenda.
