The current United States legal drinking age is 21. We demand to have public consumption age of beers and wines 18. At the age of 18 people are aloud to vote, serve on a jury, sign legal documents/contracts, open a checking account, get an adult driver’s license, be drafted into the military, enlist in the military, buy cigarettes or other tobacco products, go to jail, and work in an alcohol-serving establishment. These are a few things on a long list that involve maturity and responsibility. At 18 we are able to do all these mature things, we should also able to consume beer or wine at that age. By allowing these adults to drink beer or wine, then it will be safer and appropriate to allow them to consume spirits (alcohol) at the age of 21.
