We the people believe that American Democracy is in need of reform, as evident by our the intense political polarization of our politicians and voters. We believe that this polarization is created not by Democracy, but by the method of voting that deliberately limits our government to two parties.
The first-past-the-post voting system used in our elections frequently creates a "kingmaker" scenario wherein a third party's entry results in a victory for the party most opposed to that third party. Therefore, third party candidates can't usually run in good conscience.
Many US cities have already adopted ranked-choice systems of voting that help eliminate these barriers to entry. No democratic system is perfect, but ours could easily represent our citizens' decisions more effectively.
