have a serious discussion on reforming Social Security benefits.

Created by J.Y. on December 18, 2012

The idea behind social security was to help Americans set aside funds to towards their retirement. Social security is a broken system however, a system that has to many beneficiaries and not enough contributors. We do our future generations a great disservice by taking money that they most likely won't see when they retire that they could have instead invested elsewhere and gotten a greater return. The congress has applied temporary fixes in the past, reducing benefits and raising collection requirements. This is not enough anymore. The time has come for a serious discussion on what citizens want out of the government and what the government can provide when it comes to welfare.
