We are told to guard our Social Security numbers with great care. Even the Social Security Administration tells us not to carry our SS cards with us. Then we reach Medicare age and we are issued a card with our Social Security number on it and instructed to carry it with us. This does not make sense. Identity theft is a real problem. Carrying our number one identifier with us at all times puts us at risk needlessly. Please have Social Security numbers removed from Medicare cards.
