HAVE STATES MANDATE THAT COMPREHENSIVE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE EDUCATION IS REQUIRED OF FAMILY COURT JUDGES.

Created by E.M. on April 26, 2012

Domestic Violence continues to cause injury or death to many people. Today (April 26, 2012) another law was passed to address the issue, particularly that of teens and abusive relationships.

As a former abused (battered) wife with a child who was also abused, my experience over 5 years in and out of court revealed that Family Court Judges are often not knowledgeable about Domestic Violence or Child Development.

Inappropriate decisions made by such judges lead to further abuse and to children being subjected either to abuse or witnessing abuse, day after day.

In the past 15 years, much progress has been seen in the education of police, advocates, and resources for abused have increased. In spite of this, IF THE JUDGE IS NOT WELL INFORMED ON THE SUBJECT, CHANGE DOES'NT OCCUR! EDUCATE!
