There is a definite need to simplify and validate the ballet voting process. It seems logical that the DMV could produce and issue Voter Registration cards that could contain ID information with a fingerprint, your registered party member choice i.e. Democrat, Republican, Independant etc. Most DMV offices are now taking a fingerprint when renewing or issuing licenses. The purpose of the finger print is: When you go to vote, you will be required to show your voter ID card to get your ballot. You would then be required to place your fingerprint on the ballot. If for any reason there are any discrepancies and there needs to be a recount etc. the fingerprint can be matched and verified. Absentee voters can use a notary. The notary fee could be tax deductible. Hard to forge a fingerprint.
