Kids are running away or getting lost every day. If we have a survival class as a requirement then if they run away, get kidnapped, or get lost they will be able to survive until help finds them.
If having a survival class means when a kid gets lost while camping they know which berry is poisonous, wouldn't you want them to have those skills?
A friend of mine was close to running away and coming to me. I kept asking her questions, how would you get here, how would you pay for it, how much money and supplies would you need to bring, ect. I talked her out of it. If I hadn't she would probably be one of those faceless kids that go missing everyday and I wouldn't know about it.
If we get a Survival class we can learn how to find food and shelter anywhere. Don't you want that?
