If the US-based companies were required to pay its outsourced workers, such as those in China and Taiwan, US federal minimum wage, those companies would have no reason to invest in cheaper labor abroad; therefore bringing jobs back to the US. For example, a Wal-Mart worker that makes sweatpants for the company lives off $4 a week, when the pants sell for about $13. Require US companies to pay them minimum wage, and the jobs will come back to the US.
