Currently, US military members who've been deployed to Afghanistan and who may at sometime become involved in a fire fight or other combat related action and lose a piece of equipment off a uniform, rucksack for example are being charged exorbitant replacement cost by the US military services the Army in particular.
This petition seeks to end the practice as it is a slap in the face to returning warriors and in some cases has been used as a retention tool to keep soldiers in the Army or creates a financial hardship for the service member and their families.
