We petition the United States government to send at least 4 ships of Destroyer class or heavier to serve under the United Nations to stop the illegal killing of whales in international and sovereign waters. Under the International Whaling Convention and the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, Whales are marked as being a species which may not be hunted, unless they are killed for scientific purposes. We believe that some illegal whaling is occurring, and that some scientific vessels may not be killing these creatures for scientific purposes. Therefore, we believe that teams on-board the ships sent to work with the UN should be allowed to board and search other vessels to ensure they are following the UN imposed guidelines.
