I would like to propose that the Federal Government make it mandatory that all institutions that are approved to accept food stamps be required to have an adequate affordable and acceptable fresh produce to consumers. Affordable fresh produce should be offered to consumers especially those that live in what is considered a Food Desert.
The gas stations and stores that I have visited have more than sixty percent of their products with stocks of junk food. It is okay to have and eat junk food, but for a family that has to choose between affordable cheap junk food, or expensive healthier alternatives. Of course, the cheap food would win hands down. Please sign this petition to bring action to this important issue.
