Healthy Food In Our Jail and Prison System

Created by J.S. on December 11, 2012

For social justce and human rights purposes individuals incarcerated in jails and prisons need healthy food rather than a diet of mostly carbs:they need salad, fruit, real vegetables, protein bars, sweet potatoes, healthy sandwiches etc.and healthy snacks rather than junk food! Most individuals gain between 25-40 pounds while incarcerated and it then becomes a health issue where states pay for health care costs as a result of obesity and poor health. If we model a healthy diet perhaps it will carry over once individuals are released and save our health care system money!!
