I am an 18-year-old living in North Carolina who has autism and hypotonia. I know I would benefit greatly from a service dog, but my parents do not. They are allergic, think it's too much work, and don't believe that I really need one.
Seeing as I live with my parents, and since they are my legal guardians, I need their permission to get a service dog, which I think is unjust. I am open to exploring different allergy-friendly breeds, am a dog trainer by trade, and know for certain that my quality of life would improve tremendously. I have also raised over $1,000 over the past year with my own money alone.
I would like my parents to see if people support my decision to better my life. Perhaps this petition will widen their views.
