This petition is to bring to attention the pain and suffering in the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
This area is home to a marginalized group called " Banyamulenge" who suffered under Mobotu Sese Seko, Laurent Kabila and now Joseph Kabila.
The recent fighting between the government troops (FARDC) and the Congolese Revolutionary Army (CRA), the military wing of the M23, is due to failure of the government in Kinshasa to fulfill its promises to the Banyamulenge people. I would, therefore, like to see the Obama administration put pressure on President Kabila to hold talks with the M23 so as to bring peace and security.
The US businesses will find lucrative markets for their products in eastern DRC. US mining and construction companies will also find attractive market.
