Last year, while unemployed and uninsured, I incurred charges for an emergency room visit that I could not afford. Between the dismal job environment, paying to support my wife and daughter (whom I can't afford to immigrate to the US because of astronomical fees) and increased taxes/cost of living, I have been unable to pay this debt.
I was served last week with a summons to appear in court, as I am being sued for $957.49. As I dont have this kind of money, My wages will be garnished by a court order.
As I see it, a Government Agency is going to mandate that I pay this debt by judging my financial status. I think it is only fair that the Government, who takes money constantly from it's Citizens to pay it's ill-advised bills, do a Citizen a favor and help him with his bills for once.
