The Republic of Congo-Brazzaville recently held a presidential “election” under government-enforced media blackout (supposedly for security reasons). Notwithstanding the excessive vote-rigging conditions that favored the incumbent candidate, Congolese people came out in throng to vote and rejected the autocratic regime of Denis Sassou Nguesso. Appallingly, the electoral commission in lockstep with the incumbent stole the people’s votes and declared Denis Sassou Nguesso as the winner. The post electoral situation is very tense and can go from bad to worse at any moment. Congo-Brazzaville experienced civil wars in the 1990s and early 2000s. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” Please sign the petition and help the people of the Congo.
