I am starting this petition on behalf of Thomas Joseph Smith Jr, a retired Marine scout and rifleman of Company 229, who honorably served this country in the Pacific during WW2. Upon viewing copies of his service record, received by his request, he noticed a period in which he was listed AWOL. He maintains this designation is incorrect as the name listed is similar but not his own. He has sought a correction of this issue, through the proper agencies, for the past 2 years. I respectfully ask you to take the time to sign this petition so he may receive the correction he has sought, and deserves.
