The J-1 Visa is being used to hire cheap, foreign labor right here in the United States instead of local, US citizens who apply for full-time work and are denied.
It is prevalent in the Tourism and Hospitality industry, with many Americans having to be put on waiting lists for many months or even years to obtain full-time positions within several large companies. At one time, these full-time positions were held by thousands of American workers, but have been steadily replaced by hiring young college student workers from other countries under the guise of an "internship program." This weakens and cheapens existing full-time jobs.
This is a real job, wage and benefit killer for American workers and must be stopped immediately.
