Help give ex-offenders a fair chance at becoming contributing members of society. By Allowing equal rights for all financial aid applicants, ex-offenders will have a fair chance at rehabilitation. The process to becoming self-sufficient is often hindered by various restrictions. A main concern is the eligibility to receive all benefits provided by financial aid. The overall goal of incarceration is to rehabilitate offenders into becoming independent. This goal is often questioned when time is served but ex-offenders are denied a fair chance at furthering educational needs. Equal student aid rights for ex-offenders can serve as an incentive to turn one's life around. Job opportunities would increase which could ultimately reduce the recidivism rate.
