In Flint, Michigan, the drinking and bathing water is contaminated with lead and fecal coli-form bacteria. The main source of water from Lake Huron has been cut off and now the public is drinking from the toxic water from the Flint River. 40% of the people living in Flint live in poverty. It is time to help
The tinted brown water contaminated by lead exposure causes hypertension, anemia, renal impairment, immunotoxicity and toxicity to the reproductive organs. One of the major problems in the Flint water crisis is the affect of lead poisoning on children. Lead affects children's brain development, resulting in reduced intelligence quotient, behavioral changes such as shortening of attention span and increased antisocial behavior, and reduced educational attainment.
