Help Hurricane Sandy victims with with flood insurance & high ranch houses...We don't have basements! NFIP..pay us!

Created by A.B. on January 16, 2013

Hurricane Sandy victims in Long Island NY, NJ and other areas are being told that their High Ranch homes are not covered b/c the NFIP defines their first floor (living space) as a basement. They are using insurance loop holes to reduce insurance payments. Meanwhile, American families are suffering, trying to pay out of pocket, or take out loans to fix their homes. In a high ranch, the first floor is a living space, not a basement. Just b/c you must go down (only) 2 steps. it does not mean it is a basement....PLEASE HELP US!!!!!! We are hard working American families, who pay taxes and insurance premiums. Then FEMA says that we don't qualify for aid b/c the NFIP paid for everything they would have paid for....what? This is just not fair! Again, please help us!
