Los Angeles is a world class city, it deserves a world class transportation network. Metro has just increased its fares (Sept 15) from $1.50/ride to $1.75 and Monthly Passes from $75 to $100. It already has sufficient funding from Measure R. LA Metro buses already have late-night/owl service but Metro Rail ends at around Midnight on weekdays and 2AM on weekends. Not only will making the LA Metro rail increase economic activity - particularly in Downtown LA, which currently experiencing a revivial, it will decrease accidents caused by drunk driving and DUIs. Mayor Garcetti wants the LA Metro to expand AND create the next great American city. What better way to compete against New York City - which has a 24/7 iconic Subway system - than to have a 24-hour Metro Rail system as well?
