Illegal immigration is still illegal. We have all heard this and the statement is polarizing. But in all these discussions, we are forgetting that there are also LEGAL IMMIGRANTS abiding by the rules of our system. However, issuing a Green Card takes years and sometimes decades, due to the back log at immigrations, often tearing families apart whose children go to school in the US, but now turn 21 and are no longer eligible for the process even after they have been approved initially and paid all fees. They have to leave the country or hope they are admitted on their own visa, so they can finish their studies and their life is not torn apart. The only way to become a citizen is through US family or employment. Both take 6 to 12 years AFTER being approved for a Green Card.
