I am petioning for cultural competency (ie African American studies classes) for law enforcement. It seems that this would be the most obvious solution to the miscommunications between black men and white police officers. I feel if you're going to work so closely with the black community you have to know about us- our traits behaviour,nuances- basically our sociology.the more they learn about & appreciate our culture. The less likely are likely to shoot & kill us & brutilize us. Police brutality has been going on or hundreds of years.& that history of racism discrimination had some kind of psychological effect on both party that bred uneasyness & untrust & these classes would bridge that gap between black men & white police officers.
