Help me declare the Monday after the Super Bowl a national holiday. This non-religious holiday could be enjoyed by every American, and it would keep hundreds of millions of Americans safer and more productive. Over 111 million people watched the Super Bowl last year and many took to the roads after a night of partying because they were obligated to return to work in the morning. A holiday would keep impaired people off the roads both on Sunday night and Monday morning, preventing unnecessary accidents.
Retailers would also benefit from a national holiday, TV ratings would skyrocket, and bars/restaurants would benefit from heightened patronage.
To keep millions of Americans safe after they partake in the most American event of the year, we need a Super Bowl Monday holiday.
