Help my mother (and all the other senior citizens who need affordable housing and preventative medical care)

My mother is a sweet little churchgoing woman who recently retired. Due to cost of living in New York, she could not afford to live on her own anymore on her social security check, so she moved in with my neice and her husband - in NEWBURGH. A few days ago, she told me about a shooting that happened right around the corner from where she lives, at the bodega where I buy my cigarettes when I visit. Yesterday, she told me that someone came into the apartment building while she was home, and robbed the TV from the apartment upstairs.
Please help our seniors. They are our mothers and fathers, the people who raised us, who loved us through thick and thin. They do NOT deserve to sit and wither away, or be unable to get preventative care...or affordable housing in decent neighborhoods.
