At 4pm on April 25th a devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal. Caught off guard the local government has been unable to respond fast enough and the situation seems only to be getting worse. Now, with 4900 confirmed deaths (April 28th) and millions of people without a home, Nepal is in desperate need of help. China and India have already jumped in to assist, but as the leader of the free world the United States needs to rise to the challenge and help restore peace in a infrastructurally and morally devastated nation. As a powerful member of the security council, the US should also push for UN intervention in this crisis. Thus, as citizens of this nation we urge our government to provide relief to Nepal in every possible way.
