Google is getting too powerful. They made some very wise decisions by choosing open source code for their popular Chrome Internet Browser and even more popular Android Operating System. These choices, we believe, have helped them create/maintain an image of benevolence and appear to follow the credo: "I just want to write code that helps people live better lives, no strings attached".
Microsoft, still a major player in the computing world most of us live in today, is still closed source and despite its former CEO, Bill Gates, attempting a post-Microsoft life of benevolence, still carries a dark cloud of greed and oppressiveness. We believe Microsoft is an important competitor for Google but needs to compete more effectively by embracing open source for their OS and browser soon.
