The President shall lay out a plan to protect the Detroit Institute of Art's (DIA) collection from being sold to creditors during the city of Detroit's bankruptcy proceedings. The DIA collection is the 6th largest in the Western Hemisphere, and is a national treasure worthy or protection. The DIA showcases American and world treasures. Additionally, it is not the city of Detroit's to sell. Three counties: Wayne, Oakland and Macomb contribute $23 million on an annual basis to the DIA, making it a holding of all three counties.
The President's plan should consider, but does not have to be limited to the following: Legal action by the DOJ, a monetary bailout from the US government, or a buyout of the collection in its entirety by the US government.
